Restyle: Toy Lamp

I’m really enjoying this rental redo. One of the unexpected parts has been purging all the junk I really don’t need anymore, but some things are much harder to get rid of than others. I’ve had these old toys sitting around in a vintage lunch box for years. Every time I thought about purging them I would immediately come up with some reason to hold on.  So, to keep all my old toys I had the bright idea, no I won’t apologize for the pun, to do a toy lamps. I’ve seen these around on Pinterest, and it seemed easy enough. I listed some instructions below.

Materials:

  • Glue Gun
  • Toys
  • Lamp Base
  • Spray Paint
  • Bulb

Instructions:

  1. Get some toys, I had mine left over from throughout the years, but you could hit up a dollar store or goodwill find some there. Remember to get a variety of sizes so the end product has an interesting shape.
  2. Next get a lamp base.  I was lucky enough to find one working at goodwill, but you can find theses bases at Wal-mart, target, etc. Get a simple one so it’s easy to attach the toys. I got this Krylon spray paint at Michaels, in this bright sunny yellow. I  Spray painted the lamp base and toys, and let them dry overnight.
  3. I arranged and glued down the toys onto the lamp, and let that dry overnight too. Take your time placing them, some areas can be bulky pretty quickly.
  4. A lamp needs a light, so you have to add a bulb. I used a cute Edison bulb, you can find these at craft stores, or online.
  5. It’s super cute, and it’s the perfect reading lamp.

If ya’ll end up making you’re on please tag #anovelhome, so I can see.
