End of the Year Review.
Hey’ all I hope the holiday season is treating ya’ll well, I know mine has been hectic, and therefore not as productive as i would like it to be, but i’m looking forward to finishing the year strong and jumping right into next year. So it’s time to review my 2018 goals. Spoiler alert, I failed badly. That’s okay though, because I also learned a lot and I’m to ready share my insight and get a jump start on the new year by sharing my 2019 goals. So let’s get into last year’s goals:
Man I was ambitious in 2018 I wanted to:
- Finish Editing my current manuscript
- Get a Literary Agent
- Write One Short story per Season
- Start writing the sequel to my current Manuscript
- Start another Project altogether
- Work through the Star Wars books
- Read more about editing books
- Read more biographies and autobiographies
Very lofty goals right? I was on my boss chick ish, i’m since come down to earth. Though I plan on keeping that fire in 2019, I just want to focus it more. So what did I actually manage to check off anything of this list? Let’s go down the lsit starting top from bottom and see how I did.
- HAHAHA, in my dreams, I did work towards this goal and learned what my next edits and drafts need, with a stronger foundation and solid writing schedule, 2019 doesn’t stand a chance
- Needed to complete the former to make this happen, this year I’m going to take a more realistic approach. Don’t get me wrong, getting a literary agent is still the plan but it’s not my focus in 2019.
- I unfortunately didn’t do a lot of writing that wasn’t book or blog related this year. I just didn’t make the time. One story per season might be a little too much for the next year but I do want to block off writing time to do some fun writing prompts.
- This actually happened on accident. In the editing process I realized my manuscript was really 3 separate parts of the same story. Which means my current manuscript is the first three chapters given the time and attention they need, and most of the remaining shitty first draft was book 2 of the series. I lucked out but I’ll take the win.
- This one will get half points. My husband and I ending up fleshing on three graphic novels ideas and I’m so excited to continue working on them together, outlining them in 2019, and hopefully seeing them one day.
- This one is a solid win in my book, my hubby is working through his last rounds of chemotherapy so we listen to during those sessions, and hospitals visits, and in bed before bed, its been fun way to spend time together, 10 out of 10 would recommenced
- This is also a win for me, but since i learned so much i want to make a point of continuing to red reference, writing, and editing literature in 2019
- This one is another half point for your girl, started a couple and I didn’t finish them
A mix bag, which pretty much sums up my entire year. I had some crazy and amazing ups, and some tough lows. With the end of the year looming its’ was time to reflect a bit, and look forward so, in Summary my 2019 are:
- Get to the querying stage of my writing journey
- Meet more regularly with a crit. partner
- Enter 1 writing contest.
- Make time to have some fun with writing prompts
- Be more consistent here on the blog
- read more books in the sci-fi genre, and also more reference, editing, writing books
- To me more of myself in my writing, that’s includes here and social media.
So that’s it, i’m most excited about sharing more of myself here. That includes, more focused and consistent writing finds post. Each week I want to on something in my manuscript, Look out for the first of these next Friday. That’s it for me tonight ya’ll. Have a very merry Christmas, till next week create, hustle, and love yourself.
