10 Things Tuesdays

10 Things in Writing This Week:

Hey writing fam, happy fall. Hope ya’ll are loving this cozy sweater weather and are all writing up a storm. Usually I would share what went down this week in writing, but since I got married last weekend, I’ve been taking it easy so nothing big happened this week on the writing front. That being said a bunch of little things happened plus I stumbled upon some helpful tips, articles and fun writing tools I wanted to share.

1.Its finally fall so I’m excited for warm caffeinated drinks and cooler weather. I’m a visual person so watching the leaves and outside change gives me and my writing new life and passion. I’m steering that passion towards writing, starting with my 2018 goals. We’re more than half way through the year and looking back on what I wanted to accomplish I have a bit to make up for and somethings I’ll have to push to 2019. With three months still left this year I’m choosing to focus on what I can do and giving myself manageable steps to complete them.

2. Editing has me going back to basic which means going back to one of my favorite books on writing , Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. This book was the one of the first reading assignments I had back in school and it was and still is amazing. Go out and find yourself a copy, you’ll thank me later

3. The little writing I did get done this week was done at the Waburne Café. Café’s are my favorite places to write and I love this one so much. I got married here, pictures to come. Speaking of love and marriage.

4. This love story shared by Catherine C Heywood was just cutest thing. Maybe it’s because I just got married but this story was so sweet, and I saw so much of my own love story in it but it made my day and gave me all the lovely dovey feels.

5. Getting married was one of the best experiences of my life. I feel so lucky and blessed to have married my best friend. Grant is not exactly clear for travel so we skipped the honeymoon and instead opted to take a day off to watch tv and just be together. We ended up binging The Dragon Prince and though the animation style is not my fav, it brought me all the Avatar the Last Air Bender feels. Which, in my opinion, is one of the most well written shows of our time. We also caught season two of American Vandal, which was hilarious.

6. In an effort to dive face first into the writing social media world. I’ve decided to do a writing challenge. #100daysofwriting, I started Tuesday of this week and you can join and keep with me on twitter, @AV_Writing

7. I watched a lot of booktube while editing this week. I stumbled upon this video by Kate Cavanaugh. I found it so helpful especially the part about narrowing down what you really want to change about your 1st draft. It made me think about the things I know want to change in my own work in progress and what questions I need answered from my beta readers. I look forward to putting all her good advice into practice.

8. When I’m not scoping out what agents are looking for on twitter, I spend a lot time on Instagram. What can I say it’s my fav way to procrastinate. I love @therusticwindow’sfeed, and her stories are always on point, and never dull.

9. I spent some time this week working on my writing desk. I want it to look so much better than it does so I’m window shopping while I’m plannig it all out. I found this adorable pencil box on modcloth. I love it.

10. I’ve recently discovered that the ghostbuster theme song is perfect writing background music, just saying.

Well ya’lll those were my ten things in writing this week. I’ll do these instead of This Week in Writing, when the weeks are a bit slower, or weeks were so much has happened I can only share little tidbits. What’s something this week that jumped out at you? Tell me in the comments below, and as always create, hustle, and love your self.
